Michael Collins Whiskey?

July 19, 2007

I didn’t realize this product existed:

Now that I know, I wonder how Michael Collins — Irish revolutionary and a leader of the IRA and Sinn Fein, gunned down at 31 — would have felt about his name and image being used to peddle liquor.

What else could you sell using political figures?

How about Martin Luther King, Jr. “I Have A Dream” mattresses and pillows?  Or perhaps Ronald Reagan “Bring Down This Wall” line of sledgehammers?

Quote of the Moment

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ---C.S. Lewis
